About Ontario Universities International (OUI)

Ontario Universities International is a unique organization in Canada, providing leadership in the Province’s commitment to international cooperation and exchange in postsecondary education.  Through OUI the universities of Ontario maintain vibrant region-to-region partnerships with networks of universities in Jiangsu province (China), in the region of Rhône-Alpes (France), in the state of Baden-Württemberg (Germany), and in the states of Maharashtra, Goa and the New Delhi Region (India).

Since their inception, OUI’s four exchange programs have enabled many hundreds of highly motivated and adventurous university students from across Ontario to broaden their intellectual and personal horizons by acquiring essential international experience in Ontario’s partner regions overseas. Ontario students have the opportunity of participating in short-stay or long-stay (up to one academic year) programs. The academic backgrounds of OUI students, be they pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees at their home university, have included virtually every subject area that can be studied at the university level in Ontario. A similarly large cohort of overseas students, representing a similarly broad range of academic disciplines, has taken the opportunity to study in Ontario through the same programs.

Each OUI exchange program is coordinated in Ontario by an Academic Director who has expert knowledge of the culture and of the academic environment of the partner region and who works in close cooperation with an overseas director. Thanks to our own dedicated staff and to our network of partners, which extends to our colleagues in the international offices of individual universities in Ontario and overseas, we take pride in our ability to provide timely and expert orientation, advice, and support to the students who participate in our programs.

Ontario Universities International is supported by a consortium of participating universities across the Province, under the leadership of the Ontario Council of Academic Vice-Presidents. Its partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities enables OUI to provide scholarship and bursary support to every eligible Ontario participant in its programs.
